Statement by Vess L. Ossman in a letter to the Editor of "The Cadenza" magazine - August 8, 1901:

"The banjo will live and become more popular every year, even if the whole world takes to golf and other games.
Banjo music is to the ear what the sun breaking through the clouds on a dark day is to the eye;
And to my mind there is nothing to replace the good, clean, clear tones of the banjo.
This in defense of the banjo from one who loves the instrument."
