Melody Tablature
- In the sample
above, the four lines labeled "TAB" represent the four
strings of the banjo (other instruments could have more strings).
The top line is the first string, the bottom line is the
fourth string. The numbers on the lines indicate fret numbers
where the melody is located. For example, "0"
on a line means play that string open (do not press it). The
number "2" on a line means press that string at the
second fret. The fret numbers align with the melody
notes and lyrics in the top staff.
